UCROSS PRESENTS AN EVENING OF MUSIC & POETRY WITH JOY HARJO
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2023
Please join Ucross for an evening with the great Joy Harjo at the WYO Performing Arts & Education Center on February 25. Joy is an internationally acclaimed performer, musician, and writer who recently concluded her third term as the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States. Joy was the first Native American to serve in the position and is known as one of the greatest artists of our time. She first came to northern Wyoming as an artist-in-residence at Ucross 10 years ago.
Joy will be accompanied by her longtime musical collaborator, Larry Mitchell. Larry is a Grammy Award-winning producer, engineer, and performer who has toured the world playing guitar with well-known artists, including Tracy Chapman, Billy Squier, Ric Ocasek, and Miguel Bosé. In his original compositions, Mitchell skillfully weaves guitar textures that showcase his virtuosity as a solo artist and ensemble player.
The evening will begin with a VIP reception (VIP ticket purchase required) in the WYO Lobby at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and guests will have the opportunity to meet Joy and Larry before the show.
Joy and Larry will then take the WYO’s main stage for a performance of music and poetry, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
